WHAT EXACTLY IS AN ESCAPE ROOM?

In this interactive adventure, players are engaged in a compelling story where they must unravel mysteries, decode a series of interconnected puzzles, and strategically use clues and hints to achieve specific objectives within the allotted time. The term “escape room” initially referred to the primary goal of escaping the physical room itself. However, as the industry has evolved, so too has the depth and complexity of these experiences. While the fundamental aim often still involves escaping from a room or location, the journey has expanded into escaping from intricate scenarios, making the adventure more about navigating through and resolving a richly crafted story than simply finding a way out.

WILL MY GROUP BE PLAYING WITH OTHER GROUPS?

  • Escape rooms are inherently social experiences, designed to foster interaction and collaboration not just within personal groups but also with new acquaintances.

    We recognize, however, that preferences vary, and some of our guests may seek a more private experience, wishing to share the adventure exclusively with their chosen companions. Understanding this, we offer an option during the checkout process to tailor your experience according to your preference. For those who value privacy and wish to ensure their group can enjoy the escape room without other participants, we provide an upgrade option. By selecting this, for a nominal fee, you can secure a private session, allowing you and your group to embark on the adventure solo.


Importantly, the fee for this private experience is dynamically calculated by our booking software, taking into account the demand for a particular time slot as well as the size of your group. The rationale is straightforward: the larger your group, the less space there is that needs to be blocked off for others, thus the upgrade fee decreases. This system ensures fairness and flexibility, adjusting the cost based on these factors to accommodate the specific needs of your group.


This flexibility aims to cater to the diverse desires of our community, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the thrilling world of escape rooms in the way they find most comfortable and enjoyable.

ARE YOU REALLY LOCKED IN THE ROOM?

In compliance with the life safety codes across the United States, no escape room facility is permitted to physically lock participants inside rooms.

At Escape U, alongside our industry peers, we have embraced this change, focusing on creating intensely immersive scenarios that challenge the mind and immerse players into another world.

Here, the concept of “escaping the room” is achieved metaphorically.

This shift ensures a thrilling, safe, and inclusive experience for all adventurers, marking a new era in escape room entertainment where the emphasis is on the journey, not the door.

CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE LARGE PARTIES AND CORPORATE EVENTS

    DO I NEED TO BOOK IN ADVANCE?

    While walk-ins are always welcome, the availability of our escape games is constantly changing and we cannot guarantee the availability of our games. We highly suggest booking in advance by clicking here.

    DO YOU OFFER REFUNDS?

    All of our games are non-refundable. However, you can always reschedule your game if you contact us at least 24 hours in advance.

    IS THERE ANYTHING WE SHOULD BRING?

    No, everything you need to play the game is provided for you. We suggest comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes. However, jeans, heels, dresses, flip flops etc are acceptable.

    ARE YOUR GAMES WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?

    Absolutely! Our entire facility meets ADA guidelines.

    IS THERE ANYONE WHO CAN’T PLAY YOUR GAMES?

    Anyone can enjoy our games, but we encourage our guests to consider their comfort with certain elements before booking. Our live-action experiences incorporate flashing lights, loud noises, and fog effects to enhance the adventure. These elements are designed to add to the excitement and are not meant to scare participants (except for our Save The Fleet game which is intentionally designed to be a haunted experience).

    If you have concerns about these effects or if someone in your party might find them overwhelming, we encourage you to give us a call at 904-687-0022, and select option one. Our game masters are on hand to discuss your needs and recommend the most suitable game experience for you and your group.

    CAN OUR GROUP PLAY IF WE’VE BEEN DRINKING ALCOHOL?

    While we aim for all our guests to have a great time, safety is our top priority. Therefore, our policy is clear: guests who are visibly under the influence of alcohol will not be permitted to participate in the experience and will be asked to leave the premises immediately. This measure is in place not only for the safety of the individual but also for the safety of others, as our games are physical experiences. Additionally, we are mandated by our insurance company to strictly enforce this policy. Please note that any guest denied entry due to intoxication will not be eligible for a refund.
